Could do with the fact we had a huge injury crisis right at the start of the season.

A backline consisting of our 3rd choice CB, 5th choice CB, 6th choice CB, and 2nd choice RB.

We’re all pissed cuz City beat us but we all knew they would. Look at our defense and tell me you thought the likes of Maguire, Evans, Lindelof, and Dalot we’re going to keep City quiet.

A lot of comments on ETH spending 400mil on his team to play like this but it’s literally a youngster in hojlund, amrabat, onana, and evans. We’re still missing 300mil of players that he signed

Even if we sack him then what? We hire another guy, honeymoon period until next season then rinse and repeat. There’s no structure behind the manager, it’s like being an accountant and not being able to use excel or accounting software.

Some of these players will be on their FIFTH manager if we sack him. A couple will be on their fourth and a whole lot will be on their third. That’s unheard of anywhere else in football. For me, sacking him is not the solution

And he says it’s specifically cause of the players we have.

You can’t play Ajax football with Fernandes, Casemiro, Rashford, McTominay, Wan Bissaka, Maguire. Could go on. Cause we’ve Frankensteined a squad of mainly 2 different counter attacking managers, Mourinho and Ole.

What is causing the issue is that he’s brought in some ‘Ajax’ players to play alongside the others, so we’re playing some fucked up in-between which isn’t giving the best of either, and actually showing the worst in both.

He has to take blame, but the board above him do too, why is there nobody above him saying we now have a squad filled with players who want to be on the ball and also several players who treat the ball like a grenade?

But looking at the United squad right now, who are actually players you’d expect to see at an Ajax side? Martinez and Eriksen. Not so much anyone else. Even Antony isn’t the kind of player to really set the playstyle at a club like Ajax, even if he did well there.

Ten Hag should be blamed for his mistakes, but I wouldn’t say this is a squad in between the old counter attacking style and the “Ajax” style. This is an unfinished squad, with simply a lot of poor players and unfit players. I would blame Ten Hag for having a front three of Rashford, Hojlund and Antony. Because it is a very expensive lineup, that doesn’t really make sense together and isn’t all that great individually either. But he’s also trying to make it work with what was already in the squad and a lot of the players just aren’t up for it.

I would have said fair enough but watching what Ange has done at Spurs in 10 games when our team was built for counterattacking under Mourinho and Conteball. Sure we brought in a few players but he’s had a single window and we look much more coherent than what’s going on with y’all.

You guys have some amazing players shackled by Conte and Mourinho. We’ve been let down by some of these players for several managers across multiple years, and some of them are still getting the chance.

We can get a lot better than we currently are. Struggle to get worse, especially given the injuries. Everyone seems low on confidence.

As much as I dislike Ten Hag, you’re right. Look at Arteta too, it took him years to get rid of the old guard and to turn things around. That included getting rid of Raul too behind the scenes

Which why the calls for his firing are stupid. United needs to find a vision, how do they want to play? what is their philosophy? Find a fitting DoF, let him workout a strategy on recruitment and youth development and hire a coach that fits this philosophy. ManU has it backwards ever since Fergie left, they first hire the coach and then decide on the philosophy

Having no identity to speak of as a club is a major issue- how does Manchester United want to play as a whole, and are the players and manager suitable for that?

We hang our hat on having young players come through and are immensely proud of it, but what kind of football are we teaching them, and is that uniform from youth level to the first team? The sooner United have an identity and plug in players who fit that the better; I’d sooner we know what we are and live or die by that than “Frankenstein” ourselves into being a team, which you’re absolutely spot on about.

Ten Hag’s biggest problem so far is his recruitment. They did not try hard for Frenkie when we had financial issues(he wanted to stay but the club wanted him out) and bought Mount for 60-70 million. Frenkie, Bruno and Casemiro would have worked for sure.

Ermmm, United literally agreed a fee with Barca for weeks until they withdrew the offer because FDJ did not want to move. So not much they could have done in that case.

Barcelona accepted and reached an agreement on the sale of FDJ. United just never reached an agreement on personal terms with FDJ because he didn’t want to move. This is well established and not even speculation.

United were ready to pay normal transfer fees not the transfer fees including deferred wages. De Jong did not want to leave Barcelona but United did not put a convincing bid to force Laporta to tell De Jong is not in the Barcelona plan. Even Liverpool are not cheapskate.

Yeah, their recruitment to me is genuinely embarrassing. It seems like they just wake up and decide to sign someone; Casemiro signing at the times left be baffled. For a guy like ETH known for a high pressing and possession based football, why spending all that money on a slow midfield destroyer that weak in moving the ball fast and controlling the tempo of a game. It obviously obliged ETH to adapt and the only way is changing your style of play

Casemiro signing makes sense when you have Kroos and Modric like midfielders to compliment him. Even that did not work out most of the time in the last few years.

Even pushing out De Gea was bad transfer. Could def haggle decent wage for 1-2 years and invested that 40-50mil into onfield player that was much bigger issue than the golden glove winner.

This is eerily starting to resemble quotes from previous Man Utd managers when things started to turn sour. In all honesty, I don’t see Ten Hag making it to next season, especially with how poor Utd perform against top teams in the PL and in Europe. The injury crisis hasn’t helped, but overall the team looks worse this season than the prior one.

Small brain here - why is this even a discussion? Ten Hag has a collection of some of the best footballers in the world. They are skilled and athletic. He was hired for his style of football and success at Ajax. He should make them adapt to his play style, or they sit the bench. Simple as that.

This is on Ten Hag for picking a terrible job to begin with. He’s someone who can’t be the face of a club necessarily, at Ajax he had an incredible structure with Overmars leading it, and he just had to stick to coaching for the most part. I am aware of his work at Utrecht where he focused a lot more on squad building, but Utrecht vs United are very different situations.

Terrible job? Millions of pounds and several year contract which will most likely get terminated early with a strong chance you’ll get the full term’s payment as severance, only to hop into another several million £/€/$ contract somewhere else within the next 6 months? Sounds amazing.

So what is his solution? He’s hired to be the coach with a rebuild plan yet he seems he has no ideas, no style, no motivation. Is he asking to be sacked?
