Given my username, I was naturally very surprised as I read through your example. (Totally agree btw, but that would make too much sense)

For me personally, I’ve been able to “learn” to respond with a few generic answers but that still doesn’t change the over analysis after the fact.
Did I seem genuine enough? I wish I could tell them how I really feel. Why bother responding if it’s a lie? I hate lying. Etc.
So yeah outwardly I appear to be good at small talk. (Heck I even worked sales for a few years) but internally it’s draining.
I drive through Medina county a lot and still I’ve only seen 2 yes signs and those were at in front of large farms. On the flip side I’ve seen maybe a dozen no signs, even in the countryside. For those not in the know, Medina county spawned Jim Renacci so the sign ratio is surprising.
I’ve always assumed it was due to the size of Reddit. I don’t care about anime at all but because lots of other people do it reaches the front page. This is why I became very liberal with the block button to tailor the feed.
I love the knob but hate that in 2021 they ‘upgraded’ the auto start to being in an app.
Looks like it.
Yeah, before I looked up the translation I figured it was “whore’s son” which is close enough.
Still haven’t seen a “join lemmy” but gotta love “Digg 4 Lyfe”
Edit: It actually says DGG 4 LYFE.
You missed the best part, in the German Flag, they’ve written “u/spez ist ein Hurensohn!”
Translation: u/spez is a son of a whore/bitch (Google says bitch, commenters are saying whore.)
I just spent the weekend in Saugutuck (near Holland) and the AQI was less than 10! We’ve been going for a few years now so I’m biased. We stay in the town and then to get to the beach there’s a ferry for $3 and a 20 minute hike through a forested area.
Driving from Ohio to Michigan: Welcome to Michigan, BUY WEED!
I think you’re on to something here. I play all kinds of games with friends, and DOTA was the only one where I’d actively get shit on for my lack of skill. And that’s from real life friends too.
Going down the woodworking rabbit hole led me to discover Mortise and Tenon magazine, which is focused on using hand tools. One of their main points is that when using a table saw for instance, we have to incorporate all these extra tools to keep us safe from the machine. (Hearing protection, push sticks and other jigs) If you use a hand saw, none of these extras matter and the effective use is completely in your hands.
It does require more skill building but for me that’s the fun part.
Also consider that with a properly adjusted hand plane or card scraper, you can completely replace sand paper. So on one hand you have a device that only needs occasional sharpening but on the other hand you are constantly rebuying supplies.
Similarly, the felt version of this. Nice for if you need to move something, ie furniture (we have wood floors).
Yes, but I think it’s as @[email protected] says. As any form of social media grows past a certain point, the more everything becomes ‘averaged out’ to the lowest common denominator. IE the things that get upvoted the most end up being only things with mass appeal across the breadth of the user base. From past experience we know this is by and large rage-bait.
Of course this can be mitigated to an extent by carefully curating what you’re blocking and subscribed to. Furthermore defederating can effect this but I’m not yet knowledgeable enough to guess how effective.
I just drove passed there a few weeks ago for a wedding, first time since they closed Six Flags. It was really quite sad to see that it’s been just vacant this whole time. I’m pleasantly surprised to see it going to benefit the community! Any idea why it never got turned into housing developments?
Wild! So devilstrip is what people from Akron call the grass between the road and the sidewalk.
