You are absolutely correct, but I was trying to avoid being inflammatory and giving an easy strawman when explaining why Trump’s concentration camps are within the realm of possibility.
Concentration camps might be a bit hyperbolic, but that was actually a fairly accurate description of how private prisons manage to make a profit.
Except for a handful of states that passed legislation to prevent it, the 13th amendment makes an exception allowing involuntarily servitude as the punishment for committing crimes. If they manage to create a kangaroo court designed to be a revolving door of convictions for “illegal immigrants”, they absolutely could keep people effectively locked up as slaves for a while.

The turnout of Democratic voters was lower than previous elections. There are too many variables at play to claim anything definitively, but it’s safe to assume that the number of voters who abstained due to the issue was more than zero.

Not necessarily. He wouldn’t want anything to happen to the funding that ends up going to himself. He would likely be thrilled if their funding for designing and building their own rockets dried up, though.
It’s right in line with the purpose of DOGE and an easy sell to anybody that doesn’t immediately see the conflict of interest: “Why are we spending $100 million annually to play catch-up with the private sector? Reallocate $80 million to get rockets that work today and save the taxpayers $20 million while doing it.”

I’m inclined to agree. If an entity is wasting hundreds of millions on a couple of consultants, the problem isn’t the consultants. It’s the people who decided that was a perfectly acceptable expense. If the DNC willingly takes on that debt, they’re not any better.
